Kirk Florence is a trial lawyer. His practice is focused in the areas of commercial and tort litigation, including products liability, business litigation, toxic torts, commercial torts, construction disputes, civil appeals and arbitration. He has represented clients in many complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Florence has particular experience in complex multi-party litigation and mass tort cases.
Mr. Florence was born in Lone Star, Texas on October 20, 1964. He attended preparatory school at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin, Texas from 1981 to 1983. He received his bachelor's degree, cum laude, in 1987 from Vanderbilt University, majoring in English and Spanish. He also studied at the University of Madrid and St. John's College, Oxford University. Mr. Florence received his law degree, with honors, in 1991 from the University of Texas School of Law. In law school, he was a member of the Board of Advocates and the Phi Delta Phi scholastic fraternity, and served as a research and writing assistant to faculty members. Before law school, Mr. Florence worked in the real estate field for one year. He is conversant in Spanish.
Mr. Florence is admitted to practice in all Texas state courts; the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit; and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is also a member of the Dallas and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of Texas, and the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. Florence was selected as a "Texas Super Lawyer" by Texas Monthly and Law & Politics in 2008 and in 2009. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
